We are committed to expanding our expertise and leading conversations about relationships, mental health, and social connection. By joining Relationships Australia Queensland, you can be part of a dedicated team making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities.About the RoleWe are currently seeking applications for the permanent part-time (37.5 hours per fortnight) role of Domestic & Family Violence (DFV) Victim's Advocate located at our Cairns venue.The purpose of this position is to provide specialised counselling and support to individuals who have experienced domestic and family violence.The key responsibilities of this position include:Apply theoretical knowledge of domestic and family violence, specifically social justice, social constructionist and feminist perspectives, and other relevant models to determine appropriate interventions for individuals who have experienced domestic and family violenceWhen working with individuals, conduct a thorough assessment of domestic and/or family violence, to identify all forms of intrafamilial violence, safety risks and vulnerabilities, and respond to identified safety risks through the creation of collaborative safety plans with the client.Provide individuals affected by domestic and family violence with information on all available options, assist them with their chosen option and advocate on their behalf where requested.Network to develop collaborative relationships with relevant government organisations and community agencies to build community capacity, to successfully link children, young people, and adults to other support servicesPlease note that the position holder will be required to work an evening shift (11am to 7pm) up to once a week, with some flexibility needed to meet business requirements.About You We're looking for a passionate and driven individual who is committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by domestic and family violence. You're eager to challenge existing norms and contribute to developing new strategies that address the complexities of DFV. You are open to ongoing professional development and participation in reflective practice. Additionally, you have: Ability to work on a rotating shift roster with on-call, regular weekends and evenings required to meet operational requirements of the role (penalty rates apply). Qualified in a Human Services related field and/or relevant DFV experience. Relevant experience in the human services area (e.g. Psychology, Mediation, Counselling, Social work). Experience providing advocacy, information, referral and/or counselling to those affected by DFV.Sound knowledge of the DFV service response system and services, especially in the context of the catchment area.Understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act (2012), Child Protection Act 1999, and other relevant legislation. What We Can Offer YouAt RAQ, we believe in supporting our people both inside and outside the workplace.
